The Problem

The scarcity of raw materials to manufacture new engine bearings combined with the COVID pandemic lead the US military to approach ACT to for a fast and effective portable system to clean engine bearings at key installations. Cleaning bearings from off the wing condition to near pristine condition is no easy task without the right tool for the job.

ACT Solution

With data supplied by the  Government, ACT engineers created a working model for a low amperage draw, compact, and portable dual-stage machine. Of course, ACT provided due diligence with actual lab testing to verify and validate the process. Specified chemistries were matched to compatible materials, the anticipated bearings to clean per day, and the requisite low amperage. The smart clean immersion system employs heated solutions with jetted spray to attack the soils one and through the inner bearing surfaces. Strict timing regimens ensure safe exposure of the bearings. Custom racks with Teflon® machined in ACT’s factory cradle the bearings to prevent metal on metal contact. Thanks to these systems the military was quickly able to keep the aircraft flying for America’s defense.
